2016 London Summer Badminton Tournament
London Badminton Club: The goal of the tournament is to provide players with valuable tournament experience. Players whom participated in past Christmas Cups are ineligible for entry. Please see below for details:
Location: Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School (125 Sherwood Forest Sq. London N6G 2C3)
Time: June 8th & 10th, 7:00 – 10:00 pm (Men’s Doubles: Jun 8; Women’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles: Jun 10)
Events: Men’s Doubles Women’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles. Minimum 4 pairs required for each event (time of specific events are to be determined)
Prizes: Available for top 3 teams of each event
Tournament Regulations:
- 21-Point Format (Win by 2, Maximum 30 points), Best 2 out of 3
- Yonex Nylon Shuttlecock will be used throughout the entire tournament
- Each event will separate participating teams into groups and undergoes a round-robin with the top 2 teams advancing out of each group
- Once out of groups, the playoff bracket is single-elimination, also best 2 out of 3
- One referee will be assigned per tournament match (both groups and playoff)
- Please report the final score of your matches to the front service desk upon the conclusion of your set
Fees & Registration: $5 for each event. Please send an email to register@londonbadminton.ca including both your name and your partner’s name, as well as the event(s) you want to participate in. If you register without a partner, the staff will try to match you with another individual who’s also seeking a partner for the same event. However, as this is highly subject to availability, we strongly recommend you register with a predetermined partner.
Fee Payment: Email Transfer to register@londonbadminton.ca, please send the payment before 12:00 noon, Jun 8 and set the password as badminton; or pay at Banting 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Jun 07.
Volunteers Wanted: If you are interested in helping out with the tournament or being a referee please send an email to register@londonbadminton.ca
Notice:
- To ensure the tournament starts on time, all participants must check in at the front service desk before 6:30 pm
- For registered players, please do your best to show up as your absence will affect the tournament brackets
- Please make sure beforehand you and your partner are available for the entire duration of the tournament
- For registered players, please notify the organization committee as soon as possible in case of emergency or unforeseen events, where you will not be able to attend the tournament
- Please respect the decisions made by the referee and tournament staff
- Lastly, remember to play safe and have fun!
